Happy New Year (SALE) ALL Month Long

Well, in all honesty, I had this blog post written a couple of days ago but got completely distracted by the news. That being said, Happy New Year! I know it’s been a minute since my last post, but let me tell you! I have been stitching away since Black Friday. Thank you to everyone that put in custom orders and helped a humble little maker like me make it through the holiday season. I’ve been able to spend the first few days of 2021 resting and planning for this year, no matter what it brings!

I thought I’d start this year off a little differently… with a sale! I am doing yet another special on custom embroidery orders since the Black Friday Sale was such a hit! So, any custom embroidery order deposit that is made in the month of January will receive 10% off of their final purchase.

Here are some examples of past work. Let’s get creative whether you want a wall piece, apron, towel, handmade pillow, or something else… I’m ready to design and create.

How It Works

  1. Start thinking about your custom order whether it’s a towel, wall art, pillow, etc.
  2. If you have questions, email me
  3. Make a deposit on your custom order here.
  4. Wait for me to contact you to begin the process of designing your custom order.
  5. I will stitch, stitch, stitch!
  6. Upon the completion of your special creation, I will send you an invoice for the final product and you’ll receive 10% off of the final order.

I’m looking forward to stitching up your custom embroidery soon!

Here we are…Thanksgiving week! I’ve got my to-do list of cooking tasks ready to go and I cannot wait for the feasting, relaxing, and pecan pie. I’ve been making a point to reflect on all of the things I’m thankful for this year, despite the nuttiness of 2020.

I’m incredibly grateful for all of you that continue to read my blog, like my social media posts, and continue to support my small business. To show my gratitude, I’m hosting a Black Friday Special that is running all week long. All those that place a custom embroidery order this week will receive 15% off of their final purchase.

I’ve never hosted a special like this! It’s exciting! Check out some examples of custom work I’ve done in the past and read on for more details!

Kickstarting with the Cookbook

Screen Shot 2019-06-29 at 5.18.22 PMIt has now been a little over a week since I have finished the Kickstarter Cookbook.  It was definitely an undertaking and I learned a lot about myself.  I like to bite off more than I can chew, every bit of pun intended.  At first, this little cookbook was only supposed to be a little pamphlet or mini-cookbook.  Of course, I got carried away with the spectacular idea of “go big or go home.”  I began compiling over 100 recipes, photos, etc.

What was I thinking?!  After being talked off the ledge, I reigned it in and put together a reasonably sized book for the Kickstarter Incentive.  I am incredibly pleased on the final product and believe I have something worth bringing to publishers for a bigger project as well as the potential for more books down the line.

If you donated to my Kickstarter a couple years ago, please make sure to check for updates from Kickstarter.  To access the cookbook, you must check your email for the link and password for the cookbook download. The emails come from Kickstarter, not me, and are titled “Project Update: #6, etc.”. If you are having trouble accessing the link, please email me at lauraleeimhoff@gmail.com. If you’ve moved or haven’t completed the initial survey, please update your information so I can get your incentive to you.

I’m very excited to be getting these out to you so I can begin focusing on the next steps.  Thank you for your continued support!

If You Can’t Stand the Heat

Getting a little inspiration from some of my favorite cookbooks!

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.  Well,  let me tell you, things have been heating up plenty in my kitchen lately.

As some of you may know, I completed a successful Kickstarter Campaign back in May.  I’ve now been working on the business and more importantly the incentives for all the fine folks that contributed.  One of  these items is a collection of recipes by made by laura lee.

A cookbook!  Yes!  This will be so fun!  I thought to myself.  Well…. I think I underestimated how much work would go into this bad boy.  Wowzah!  I’m still compiling a thoughtful introduction, testing and getting pictures of every recipe, etc.  Putting together a cookbook is a full time job.  My hat is off to some of my culinary creatives that have already put one out.  I appreciate all the help and pointers that I’ve received along the way.

For those of you that are waiting patiently, thank you.  Please know it’s a work in progress.

I know for cookbooks that I purchase, I love pictures!  I want a picture for every recipe!  Obviously, I rely heavy on the visual side, but is there something you like in a cookbook? What is ideal for you?Let me know, I’ll see what I can incorporate just for you.

Thanks again, ya’ll!

Star Wars & Serendipity

I was never a fan of Star Wars.  Gasp!  I know, right?  When we were kids, my father used to make my brother and I watch the original trilogy over and over (and over) again.  As a girl that was more interested in ponies than storm troopers, it was difficult to stay engaged.  Fast forward to 2016, I revisited the original Star Wars movies.  I decided there had to be more going for it than Harrison Fords ultimate babe-dom and the intrigue of the Ewoks.  Of course, there was.

It’s funny how a movie made over 30 years ago is still wildly popular as it is today.  The amazing part is that it will most likely carry on for another few decades.  Why do I think that?

This past December I got commissioned to make a stool for a little boys Christmas present.  When given the option of cars, planes, or Star Wars, something in my heart told me to go for Star Wars.  It seemed like a no brainer.  I fashioned what I thought to be a perfect gift.  Only days, after he received it, Carrie Fisher passed away.  By a twist of fait, the most bad ass princess of all times passed away just in time for the next generation to carry out their love of Star Wars.

Canning

Butters and Jellies and Jams! Oh my!

butter jellies jamsOk, I cannot stop talking about cooler weather!  It means fall is here, sweaters, scarves, and all things pumpkin!  It also means that I am not avoiding my stove top and oven like the plague, which means when I got my latest order for a gift basket I was jumping for joy!  I had already been canning cucumbers like a mad woman despite the heat and humidity, but now I can have all the windows open on a cooler evening, have a glass of wine, crank up Miles Davis, and bust the ol’ recipe cards out.

I wanted to do something just a little different for this gift basket.  With the combination of seasonal produce and the love I have for the combination of sweet and savory flavors, I decided to play with both ideas!  Nettie’s Bread & Butter Pickles, Jalapeno Jelly, Ginger Peach Jam, and brand new to my recipe collection: Rosemary Pear Butter, were the winners for this little basket.  I must say the Rosemary Pear Butter paired wonderfully with my glass of Côtes du Rhône!

The basket has been sent off and I eagerly await to get feedback! But like all batches of pickles, butters, jellies, and jams (oh, my) I am left with a little extra!  What does that mean?!  Well, for those that are interested in trying some new treats, but aren’t quite ready to make the commitment to a pint size jar, or perhaps you too are in search for a gift basket for someone… Look no further!  I have put together a trio of sweet and savory gift bags that need homes!
